Mediterranean Sea
Lara Croft visits a remote area of the Mediterranean Sea to find Norse ruins and the entrance to the one of the Norse underworlds named Niflheim, and eventually ends up on Amanda Evert's freighter, in Tomb Raider: Underworld.

Lara locates the area that Richard Croft had theorised was the location of a gateway to Avalon. She dives to the ruins and opens a gate into underwater passages that riddle the ruin. Eventually she makes her way to the Sun Amphitheatre, where the Kraken (or Underpus), has taken possession of the hall.
By manipulating machinery around the amphitheatre and climbing to various areas of the room, Lara can bring part of the machinery crashing down on the Kraken, piercing its soft body and killing it. She can then access the door that the Kraken had been blocking, and access further tunnels and eventually a room with a statue of Thor, where she will find one of Thor's Gauntlets.
At this point, several mercenaries, led by the Mercenary Commander surround and knock Lara unconcious. They steal the gauntlet she has just collected, and blow up the entrance to prevent her leaving. However, she manages to find an alternate way out and makes her way through the ruins and up to her yacht. She sees Amanda Evert's large container ship named 'Megaera' moored nearby, and makes her way to the anchor chain where she can climb on deck.

Lara makes her way across the deck, and into the lower maintenance areas of the ship, clearing mercenaries out of her way. At one point she is confronted by the Mercenary Commander, but he accidentally shoots a tank of flammable liquid, which explodes and kills him and also damages the ship. Lara narrowly escapes, and continues on to a large circular chamber, where she finds Amanda Evert in conversation with Jacqueline Natla.
It appears that Amanda cannot use the gauntlet as it has already conformed to the shape of Lara's hand. Amanda realises that the ship is taking on water, and leaves to assess the situation. Lara and Natla then have their reunion, where Natla tells her more about Avalon, Helheim and the Daises seen in Tomb Raider: Legend. She also reveals that Lara will be following in her father's footsteps by searching on the coast of south-west Thailand. Natla's containment chamber is then taken out by helicopter from the sinking ship.
Lara then must escape from the damaged ship, getting out through the cargo hatches at the bow of the ship. She sees Amanda escaping by helicopter, and fires some shots at her. When Amanda throws the gauntlet into the sea, Lara retrieves it and leaves for Thailand.
